Self-associated concept mapping for representation, elicitation and inference of knowledge

چکیده
Concept maps have been widely put to educational uses. They possess a number of appealing features which make them a promising tool for teaching, learning, evaluation, and curriculum planning. This paper presents self-associated concept mapping (SACM) which extends the use of concept mapping by proposing the idea of self-construction and automatic problem solving to traditional concept maps. The SACM can be automatically constructed and dynamic updated. A Constrained Fuzzy Spreading Activation (CFSA) model is proposed to SACM for supporting rapid and automatic decisions. With the successful development of the SACM, the capability of Knowledge-based systems (KBS) can be enhanced. The concept and operational feasibility of the SACM is realized through a case study in a consultancy business. The theoretical results are found to agree well with the experimental results. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Concept Maps and Wagon Wheels: Merging Methods to Improve the Understanding of Team Dynamics
The study of team performance using knowledge elicitation methods can result in the proliferation of large amounts of data. While methods such as the Wagon Wheel Method have been devised to facilitate knowledge elicitation, they often underspecify analysis protocols for dealing with large datasets. Moreover, the representation of the analysis poses challenges for transforming the knowledge gain...
متن کاملExtending the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus Based on the Concept of Accessibility of Moving Objects in the Paths
Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...
متن کاملConcept mapping and problem solving 1 Running head: CONCEPT MAPPING SUPPORT FOR PROBLEM SOLVING
The main theoretical position of this paper is that it is the explicit problem solving support in concept mapping software that produces a stronger effect in problem solving performance than the implicit support afforded by the graphical functionality of concept mapping software. Explicit problem solving support activates cognitive functions such as knowledge representation, knowledge elicitati...

Data mining, also known as knowledge discovery in database, is the process to discover unknown knowledge from a large amount of data. Text mining is to apply data mining techniques to extract knowledge from unstructured text. Text clustering is one of important techniques of text mining, which is the unsupervised classification of similar documents into different groups. The most important step...
متن کاملContext-driven Disambiguation in Ontology Elicitation
Ontologies represent rich semantics in a lexical way. Lexical labels are used to identify concepts and relationships, though there is no bijective mapping between them. Phenomenons such as synonyms and homonyms exemplify this, and can result in frustrating misunderstanding and ambiguity. In the elicitation and application of ontologies, the meaning of the ontological knowledge is dependent on t...
